1) Take it outside.
When was the last time you celebrated your birthday outside in some way? Maybe it was a hike. But for a lot of us the last outside birthday we had included goody bags and a birthday hat with a kazzoo. So, take yours outside. Visit your favorite beach location and have a picnic. No matter what season your birthday falls in, make it a point to spend it outdoors instead of a fancy dining hall or at home.
2) Have a potluck pizza party.
Everyone loves pizza in some way. So invite your friends over for a DIY pizza party. Make sure everyone brings one or two toppings of their choice and you get the pizza crusts ready. You would be surprised what people bring and what you can challenge yourself to try.
3) Celebrate your inner child.
What did you love as a kid? Was it seeing the newest super hero movie? Did you love laser tag? Playing a new video game? The coolest bounce house? Make it a point to appeal to your inner child and celebrate the way you would have when you were ten years old. Or maybe celebrate the way you wish you had.
4) Step outside your comfort zone.
If you have always wanted to try a helicopter ride, skydiving, a hot air balloon ride, or bungee jumping, challenge yourself this year to do it. This is your year and you want to make it special, so bring a gutsy friend and gift yourself the experience you have been wanting to try for a long time.
5) Have a day with yourself.
When was the last time you had “me” day? Probably has been a while hasn’t it. SO, plan your me day around your birthday. Schedule a hair and nail appointment, book a few places you want to visit, and get all the things together you’ve wanted to do and spend it with yourself. It can be a soothing way to spend your birthday and get to know the person you’re around the longest – yourself.
So happy birthday and may this year be your greatest one yet.
